Lotenhulle, d'Oude Melkerij
The Old Dairy Plant

The dairy plant was first exploited by Jozef De Meyer who was born in 1883.  He died in 1977.
His son Lucien took over from him.
This is the oldest picture of the Dairy Plant.  It dates from 1905.

This picture by Niels dates from 1920.

This picture was made in 1939.
The building to the left was added in 1923.
Lucien was born in Lotenhulle on 24 July 1925.
He died in Duinbergen on 5 August 1995.
About a year after his death the old plant was sold.

The statue of St-Antonius was not part of the sale and remained in the hands of the De Meyer family.
The new owner of the building put a statue of St Joseph in the niche.
That's perhaps why some people wrongly believe it was the St Joseph Dairy Plant of Lotenhulle.

They used a special kind of paper to wrap butter.

Many thanks for the older pictures and the explanations to Mrs. Carine De Meyer, Lucien's daughter.
