Here follows an extract taken from the register of births of February 1835 of
Ursel, East-Flanders, Belgium.
This certified copy was sent to Mr. Robert J. Noe, Rock Island, Illinois in August 1989
by Mr. A. Schrans, the burgomaster of Knesselare. (The towns of Knesselare and
Ursel were merged in 1971.)
In het jaer Achttien honderd Vijfendertig den zeventienden february ten twee ueren naemiddag voor ons Karel Brugghemann, Burgermeester, ambtenaar van den burgerlijken stand der Gemeente Ursel, kanton Somergem, district Gend, provincie Oostvlaanderen is gekomen Joannes Baptiste Mussche wever oud drij en dertig jaren hier geboren en woonende wijk berken den welken ons heeft vertoont een kind van het vrouwgeslachte geboren gisteren ten elf ueren 's avonds in zijne woonste van hem verklaerder en van Bernardine Ronse zijne vrouwe en waer aen hij verklaerde te willen geven den voornaem van Ursula. de voornoemde ver- tooninge en verklaeringe gedaen in de presentie van Joseph Wieme werkman oud eenen veertig jaeren en Adriaen Hayeman werkman oud drijendertig jaeren, beyde hier woonende. Naer voorlezing hebben den vader en de getuigen verklaerd niet te kunnen schrijven nogte naemteekenen In the year Eightteen hundred Five and thirty on the seventeenth february at two hours in the afternoon before us Karel Bruggheman Burgomaster, civil servant of the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriage of the Town Ursel, county Somergem, district Ghent, province Eastflanders has come Joannes Baptiste Mussche weaver old three and thirty years born here and living in the area berken wo has shown us a child of the female gender born yesterday at eleven hours in the evening in his home of him the declarer and of Bernardine Ronse his wife and to whom he declared to want to give the firstname of Ursula the above showing and declaration made in the presence of Joseph Wieme laborer old one and fourty years and Adriaen Hayeman laborer old three and thirty years, both living here. After reading the father and the witnesses have declared not the be able to write or sign their name. |
