He was the son of George Washington McDowell (° Lancaster, Fairfield County, Ohio 17/4/1847 - † 2/4/1924 Alpha, Henry County, IL) and Ann Cone Calkins (° 19/11/1846 - † 25/4/1926). George Donly married Susan Caroline Beard (° Greene Township, Mercer, IL 26/7/1880 - † Phoenix, Maricopa, Ariz. 4/2/1959).

Russell Harry McDowell

On 9 Oct 1940 he married Margaret Noe in Clinton, Iowa.
Russell worked with his father-in-law on the railroad: he was employed as a section hand with the former CB&Q Railroad for 30 years retiring in 1969. He was a real railroad enthusiast.
He was also a member of the Holy Name Society at church and of Geneseo Moose.
Russell died on 20 June 1992 in Moline, Rock Island, Illinois.
They have one son and three grandchildren.
